In 2016 I co-led and participated in a Traveling Dress photography project with a handful of other photographers I'd met in a photography community. This year, in 2017, we're at it again, but this time we're each leading own separate groups of 7-10 people and The Traveling Dress Collective has been born!
Here are the other members of my team and their websites (some have posted their images with the dress and others haven't.) But what an incredible team of talented artists, you won't regret looking at their beautiful art. Lexy Parks, Hernan Sanchez, Candice Zugich, Julie Godbolt, Kyle Wilson, April Kraus, Kathryn Gillespie, and Lauren Grayson.
In my group this year I decided to take the dress (created by our very own group member Lexy Parks!) out three separate times during the time I had it. I will be posting/blogging all three outings eventually but my most favorite outing was being able to take it underwater and try my hand at underwater photography and I. Am. Hooked. I have decided that the sales of any of my fine art prints will go directly towards the purchase of an underwater camera/housing. Eeee! I can't wait to get in the water again.

This past October, I had the opportunity to help coordinate a photographer meet up/shoot out with photographers in the Seattle, WA area. I was fortunate enough that my sister recruited her friend and dancer, Liana to model for us. These are some of mine from this experience.

This year I decided to challenge myself to take/post at least one image every week. I joined a forum and in this forum this challenge was called "Create 52." All of these images are bookmarks throughout this year of things I tried and learned with photography. I learned about the power of single-source lighting and fell in love with garage light. I tried to take a step back and take some wider shots instead of my normal go-to, close-in, default. I attempted freelensing and fell in looooove with it! I incorporated flowers into a shoot and discovered I actually really loved that also. From dresses, dancers, water, snow, light patterns, movement... I experimented with it all during this project. I haven't decided if I'll be doing another one or not. My rules were that I needed to post one image a week and post is as the "create 52" for that week, and if I had to, I could choose older images to pull up and post. Those were my only rules. I did pretty well up until about week 37 where things sorta fell apart and my create 52 posts fell off the map. So I went back through and made the rest of the choices this week all in one fell swoop.
All along, my goal was to compile these images into a book, so I will be completing that project soon and will be making it available for purchase. :-) Thanks for following along! Should I do another in 2017?

In 2016, I had the opportunity to be a part of a forum created by a photographer I follow, Amber Privizinni from Privizinni's Passion. In this forum I met many other talented photographers, participated in a weekly photography project and started and lead a Traveling Dress project (read about it on The Photo Sancturary) with Kristey Fritz-Martin from My Artistic Journey. The other participants in the projects and their creations can be seen on The Photo Sanctuary. Unforseen and unfortunate circumstances brought the forum to a close for the unforeseen future. However, when our project was complete, we brainstormed how to share our images. The Photo Sanctuary adopted us and you can see the full project there.
The Traveling Dress has blossomed outside my own expectations because of the contributions of Twyla Jones and The Photo Sanctuary and is blowing up into an even larger endeavor, named The Traveling Dress Collective, with even more amazing and talented photographers from around the world in 2017. I will be a part of this again in 2017 and cannot wait get started. Until then, enjoy my favorite creations with The Traveling Dress 2016.
