What if the artwork on your walls was of you?
I am passionate about providing an embracing self experience for women through Fine Art Portrait Photography. This passion bloomed through my own discovery of the camera and learning how to use it through self-portraiture. What I experienced was a form of therapy; deep, emotional, and introspective. By choosing to place myself in front of the camera, I was confronted with insecurities I never knew I had. That spotlight made me uncomfortable. Simultaneously, I found images that were healing gems. The entire process requiring me to experience a tension that accompanied healing.
My goal is for women to experience the transformational power of accepting their bodies, as they are, right now, moving, breathing, and being, in all the ways that make her who she is apart from how we look. Society tells us our worth is rooted in our looks. This evil is prevalent in the photography industry. The truth is we hold innate worth simply because we exist. This is what I share with women through Fine Art Portrait Photography. It’s a choice to invest in your personal growth. It’s therapy. It’s personal. It’s awkward. It’s revealing. But most of all, it’s you.

Fine Art Portrait Photography done differently
movement
My goal is to capture images of women breathing, moving, and being, in their bodies as whole human beings. Static poses are not part of my workflow. I believe a woman deserves to be allowed to move through the photography process in a way that a manicured static pose won’t allow. My work has been described as capturing a “breath of a moment,” romantic, feminine, whimsical, and powerful.
introspective
There will always be things about ourselves we’re learning to accept. Being photographed can shine an awkward spotlight on sore areas. Deciding to face this tension can be the catalyst toward acceptance, growth, and healing. Knowing this tension exists, I create an environment that accounts for this reality while also showing you aspects of yourself you may not have noticed before.
Quality
As most art tends to embody, I utilize a “quality over quantity” approach. Deliverables from each commission range from five to approximately fifty, and no two commissions are alike. This process requires slowing down and taking the time to explore every possible composition, crop, and edit that best encapsulates that hard-to-explain feeling; the depth of a person or a moment that words simply can’t reach.
time
I take my time making art with you. I take time to breathe and allow the same for you. Time for us to be in the moment. To exist in our skin without rush. Time for me to listen and focus on your words. This is important to my process of making art. I reserve all day for one commission at a time. Time with me while photographing can be anywhere from 1-3 hours. It’s been said that anything can be done in three ways; fast, cheap, good, but you can only pick two at a time. Cheap and Good isn’t fast. Fast and Cheap isn’t good. Good and Fast isn’t cheap.
Art
We make art together. The commission session is where we “prep the canvas” by taking all of the “base images.” Later, I will present images to you that, upon your choosing, will eventually become the final artwork that will hang proudly in your home. I spend time only perfecting the artwork that you connect with the most. You’re only ever paying for the images you love. Together, with my graphic design and artistic background I can show you the possibilities.

“It’s so refreshing and inspiring to see myself in ways I don’t get to in every day life. Like when do I ever see my hands, so soft and delicate, and my hair flying wild and free, wrapping me up. I see me, but, in third person? I see her being loving and gentle, soft and bold. I see her loving herself, which I’m desperately trying to do. I’m working so hard on it. Seeing these, I can see and feel the love I have started growing for myself!”

“Teresa sees to the heart of each of her subjects and is able to capture what makes them unique. She does so in such a way, that in looking through her lens they are able to see, often for the first time, their own potential and beauty.”
