It’s those in-between moments that hold the most magic for me when creating Fine Art Maternity Portraits. The way the wind tugs gently, creating fleeting twists and turns in fabric and hair. Finding those moments is not something that can be squeezed into a 30-minute mini session, which is why my sessions are between 1-2 hours. As moms, I feel like much of life simply pulls me along from one thing to the next. I rarely get a chance to catch my breath unless I attempt it with intention. Lisa reached out to me after being convinced by her photographer friend Jodi of Jodi Lynn Photography, to get maternity photos. Jodi told me later that after giving Lisa a list of photographers to reach out to, that she secretly hoped Lisa would pick me and was overjoyed when she had.

What was most special to me about my time with Lisa was our conversations together in the car on the way to the gorge and back. On multiple occasions, I have had opportunities to just chat with clients before/after sessions. Because many of my clients (and myself as well to be frank) are on a journey of what I like to call “embracing self,” our conversations usually dip deeper than the surface. This isn’t because I force deeper topics or ask personal questions but rather it seems to be a natural reaction to being vulnerable and having the time and space to catch our breaths together. Time for focusing on this difficult, mysterious, amazing, beautiful, and yes sometimes the treacherous journey of life and motherhood.

Have you almost missed an opportunity to be photographed? If you are looking for Fine Art Maternity Portraits, I would love the opportunity to take a breath and create magic with you.
