Fine Art Underwater Portraits: Light and Bright {Portland, OR}

There is something so calming for me about the water. I recently read that “flying underwater” is even better than flying in the air and I think I agree!

I’ve previously shared images from this session but there were so many different ways I could edit the resulting images, and two different types of underwater equipment I used for them, that it made sense for me to split them up into a few blog posts.

These images were created using a standard non-professional grade underwater point and shoot camera. I don’t remember the camera brand, since it was back in 2017 (eeeeck! They should have been blogged ages ago!), but also because I had borrowed it. This was one of my very first attempts at underwater photography and I have been hooked ever since.

Unfortunately for me though, there are usually just a few months out of the year that it is warm enough for outdoor underwater photography to be possible. Yes, indoor pools can be an option but the water quality is less reliable.

This summer, however, I will have my own pool and control over the water quality for Fine Art Underwater Portraits! We have just moved into a new house that is on 5 acres (stay tuned for a property tour), and we are setting up a 16’ around x 4’ tall above-ground pool in the backyard. I am just dying to put my new Outex camera housing to good use!

If you’re thinking of hiring me for a Commission this summer, now is a great time to get in touch. My summer schedule tends to fill up faster than other months, so connect with me now if you’re wanting to get on the books.
