Studio Fine Art Portraits: Kaori {Vancouver, WA}

"Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is the special occasion." -unknown

My Embracing Self sessions celebrate the simple fact that you are alive and that you matter, as you are, right now and that you have a life full of experiences and story. You are deserving of having beautiful images of yourself. Contrary to what our society says is vain or self-obsessed, you don't have to be a mom or wife, or celebrating an anniversary or special event to commission photos with yourself as the subject. As expressed so well in Encanto, “The Miracle Is Not Some Magic That You’ve Got – The Miracle Is You.”

It is perfectly magical how creative a person can be when introducing constraints to the creation process. I am naturally drawn to simple. In life and in my art. I like my photography equipment to be minimal, just one or two lenses, one camera stand, one huge studio light, and one or two good solid points of focus for inspiration per session. When I constrain myself and give myself limits in this way I am always so pleased by the results I am forced to create as a result. For these Fine Art Portraits, we incorporated fabric and then baby’s breath flowers all on a plain black backdrop with Kaori wearing a dress from my session wardrobe which is available to all of my clients.

Kaori is an artist working out of a studio space in downtown Vancouver, WA. Check out her Instagram for behind the scenes of her art and join her mailing list for early access to new releases.
