Studio Fine Art Portraiture: Davenport Family {Vancouver, WA}

I have been capturing memories and creating beautiful pieces for wall art for this family for years and am honored each and every time they choose me.

You can view some of their past sessions following the links under “Fine Art Child Portraiture: A Continuation Story” at the bottom.

In a long list of other reasons why this family is special to me, one reason, specific to my Fine Art Portrait niche, is that from day one I have always been given the freedom to create as I feel lead and inspired. When clients trust my vision and come back to me time and again, to create within the niche of Fine Art Photography, it allows for and creates what I like to call a visual Continuation Story. You can read more about the benefits of a Continuation Story here.

I am absolutely delighted when I get to create more wall art for my clients which blends effortlessly into the wall art they currently have on their walls. What made this particular session with them unique from the previous ones is that we captured the whole family this time. Previous sessions had been focused primarily on connections between the kids, their cousins, just mom and kids, or just grandma and grandkids. This time, we were able to pepper in some with dad too. The images below will blend just perfectly with their existing series of images from 2016 and 2018, especially the ones with the same exact flower crowns used this time as we did in the previous sessions!

Check out the images from their most recent session below as well as some side-by-side comparisons from previous sessions!

Can you tell below which ones were taken in 2016 and which ones in 2022?

What makes a group of images feel visually cohesive is not always about what “matches” but what “goes.” I’ll often help people choose what to wear at a session based on what “goes” as apposed to items which are “matchy-matchy” in nature and the same goes for the images I create for Continuing Stories. This is what you want for those staircase photos. Images that go with your decor instead of competing against it. This allows instead for your memories to be represented in a way that also beautifully accents your home.
