2023 Project: Women Over 50 {Fine Art Portraits in Vancouver, WA}
I’ve been listening to the women in my life…
and I’m hearing that there’s this “thing” that happens after a certain age. This “disappearing” of sorts that happens when the children are grown and gone, and you’re looking forward to retirement.
I’ve heard it from not just one, not just two even, but a number of women. As I am in my early 40s, and because I am blinded by the objectification of women at any age in the field of photography, I am particularly interested in this slow “disappearing” of women in portraiture because I know I will one day face it myself. On my journey of “Embracing Self,” in addition to appreciating the unique contributions to this world that I offer as a woman and apart from my outward appearances, I am also looking forward to my future. In looking forward, I hope to better prepare myself and other women for entering the world of “aging” in which men are allowed to age and be visible doing it without all the scrutiny typically piled on top of women at the same age.
My main creative project for 2023 will be to pursue the stories of women and photographing women of “a certain age.”

I am inviting women to participate
For one of the 6 available session slots in 2023 (One per month in Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, and Dec) I have opened up on my calendar for Fine Art Portrait Sessions for Women over 50 (specific age not a requirement). The culmination of the project will be a physical piece of photographs and printed stories of the women pictured.
What does it include?
Waived session fee for Fine Art Portrait Session with Teresa ($500 value)
Complimentary copy of 5-10 small digital image files (for social media). Printable copies can be made available for purchase.
Styling/Posing and Artistic Direction by Teresa
Personal story either in full or excerpts printed in final project
Resulting images included in printed project publication at the end of 2023
criteria for participation:
An essay, written piece, and/or collection of personal journal entries, etc. outlining your own personal story with the phenomenon of “disappearing” (can include physically, emotionally, mentally, etc.)
Agreement for Teresa to share, publish, sell, reprint, and distribute images from the Fine Art Portrait session. I will honor the request that any image be kept private, however, I require at least 5-10 approved images for the purpose of this project. Alternatively, you may keep your images private and simply book a private session.
Collaborate and accept artistic guidance from Teresa for a cohesive look/feel for the project: Backdrops, color schemes, artistic shooting techniques, etc.
